- 01Cordyceps Sinensis (Ophiocordyceps sinensis), also known as Yarsagumba, is a rare Himalayan medicinal species naturally found at high altitudes in the Himalayas. Unlike cultivated Cordyceps, it develops only in the wild through a unique natural life cycle involving ghost moth larvae. It has been valued for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Tibetan medicine and remains one of the world's most sought-after natural medicinal ingredients due to its rarity and limited seasonal harvest.
- 02Wild Cordyceps sinensis grows naturally in the high-altitude Himalayan regions at elevations of approximately 3,200–5,000+ meters. It is found in parts of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, and China, where the cold climate and unique alpine ecosystem create the ideal conditions for its natural growth. Because of these specific environmental requirements, genuine wild Cordyceps is extremely rare.
- 03We source our Wild Himalayan Cordyceps exclusively from the high-altitude Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand, India. Although Wild Cordyceps (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) is also found in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, we have chosen to source only from Uttarakhand because of its pristine alpine meadows, ideal high-altitude habitat (approximately 4,000–5,000 meters), and our trusted network of experienced local collectors. This allows us to maintain consistent quality, authenticity, and traceability in every batch we supply.
- 04Wild Cordyceps sinensis grows only in remote Himalayan regions and can be harvested for just a few weeks each year. It is collected entirely by hand, and a collector may find only 1–2 pieces in a full day. On a very good day, they might find 4–5 pieces, but that is uncommon. Its rarity, short harvest season, labor-intensive collection, and high global demand make genuine wild Cordyceps one of the world's most valuable natural fungi.
- 05Cordyceps sinensis has been used for centuries in traditional Himalayan and Chinese medicine and has been widely studied for its potential health benefits. Research suggests it may help support:Energy production and physical staminaExercise performance and recoveryHealthy immune functionA normal inflammatory responseRespiratory healthHealthy liver functionHealthy testosterone levels and reproductive wellnessAntioxidant defense against oxidative stress Scientific research is ongoing, and individual results may vary.
- 06Global interest in Cordyceps Sinensis increased significantly in 1993 after Chinese female athletes broke several world records. Their coach, Ma Junren, later stated that Cordyceps was included as part of their training program. Since then, Cordyceps has attracted worldwide scientific interest and has been extensively studied for its potential role in supporting energy, endurance, recovery, and overall wellness.
- 07Authentic wild Cordyceps typically has:A naturally dried caterpillar body with visible ring-like segmentsA yellow to golden-brown colorA thin, dark brown fungal stalk growing from the caterpillar's headA distinct natural aromaBecause it is harvested from nature, every piece differs slightly in size, shape, and color.
- 08The quality of wild Cordyceps depends largely on its origin, physical appearance, and authenticity. When purchasing, you should:Ask where the Cordyceps was harvested.Choose suppliers who clearly disclose the harvesting region.Request laboratory testing whenever available.Check for naturally occurring bioactive compounds such as adenosine, which is commonly used as one indicator of quality.Buying from a trusted and transparent supplier is the best way to ensure authenticity.

- 10Cordyceps has traditionally been regarded as a natural aphrodisiac and is sometimes referred to as the "Himalayan Viagra."Research suggests it may help support healthy energy levels, stamina, libido, and reproductive health in both men and women. Unlike stimulant-based products, Cordyceps is believed to work by supporting normal physiological functions over time rather than producing an immediate effect.
- 11No. Cordyceps sinensis is not a cure for cancer and should never replace medical treatment. However, research has explored cordycepin, one of its major bioactive compounds, for its potential anticancer properties and supportive role during cancer treatment. Cordyceps may help support overall well-being, but it should only be used as a complementary supplement under medical guidance.
- 12Wild Cordyceps is harvested entirely by hand during the spring harvest season, usually from May to June, after snow begins to melt in the Himalayas.Collectors carefully search alpine meadows for the small fungal stalk emerging from the ground before gently removing the entire caterpillar-fungus complex to preserve its quality.

- 14Cordyceps naturally contains a variety of biologically active compounds, including:Beta-glucansCordycepinAdenosinePolysaccharidesSterolsLectinsProteasesChitinaseEssential amino acidsVitamins and mineralsAmong these, adenosine, cordycepin, beta-glucans, and polysaccharides are the most widely studied for their potential biological activities.
- 15Wild Cordyceps requires a unique combination of environmental conditions that exist only in a few Himalayan regions. It naturally grows in alpine meadows at elevations of approximately 3,200–5,000+ meters, where cold temperatures, clean air, mineral-rich soil, seasonal snow, and its host caterpillar species create the ideal environment for its life cycle. These rare ecological conditions cannot be easily replicated, making genuine wild Cordyceps one of the world's most exclusive natural medicinal fungi.
- 16Wild Himalayan Cordyceps (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) is naturally found in the high-altitude alpine meadows of Uttarakhand. Among the most well-known harvesting regions are Darma Valley and Byans Valley in the Pithoragarh district. These areas, located at elevations of approximately 4,000–5,000 meters, are widely recognized for producing premium-quality wild Cordyceps due to their pristine Himalayan environment. At Cordyceps Global Partners, we carefully source our Wild Himalayan Cordyceps from trusted local collectors in these high-altitude regions to ensure authenticity, freshness, and premium quality
